About This Program
Program Overview
The Skills Development program equips Minnesota youth with the practical abilities they need to succeed in school, work, and life. We focus on building a strong foundation of transferable skills that will serve participants throughout their personal and professional journeys.
Core Skill Areas
Our curriculum covers leadership development, effective communication, critical thinking and problem solving, time management, financial literacy, and career exploration. Each skill area includes hands-on activities, real-world projects, and opportunities to practice in supportive environments.
Leadership Development
Participants learn what it means to be an effective leader through team projects, community service initiatives, and mentorship opportunities. We explore different leadership styles, help youth discover their strengths, and provide platforms for them to lead their peers in meaningful activities.
Communication and Collaboration
Strong communication is essential for success in any field. Our workshops cover public speaking, active listening, written communication, and digital literacy. Participants practice presenting ideas, giving and receiving feedback, and working effectively in diverse teams.
Career Readiness
We prepare youth for the workforce through resume building, interview practice, workplace etiquette training, and job shadowing opportunities. Partnerships with local businesses provide real exposure to various career paths and help participants envision their futures.
Mentorship Component
Every participant is paired with a mentor who provides guidance, encouragement, and accountability. Our mentors come from diverse professional backgrounds and are committed to helping young people reach their potential.
